Google’s Algorithm Update on Relevance – June 3rd, 2019

Google announced Monday, June 3rd a new update to their core algorithm system, calling it their June 2019 Broad Core Update. Google has not released any additional information regarding the update or how this will affect accounts – other than it won’t. According to the Google Search Liaison Twitter account, Google says there is nothing accounts need to do.

What Do You Need To Know?

It can take up to ten days to see if an update will affect the placement of your website. Google’s official messaging is to do nothing, but here are some things to keep in mind.

  • Broad updates are about relevance, not just “site quality.” (Even though site quality is always important.)
  • It is essential to have relevant, well-written, and unique content on your site. Write like you’re the top authority in your industry.
  • Niche and smaller sites, do not worry. These updates don’t target niche sites.
  • If you’re trying to figure out why your site is no longer ranking well, think less about what’s “wrong” with your website and more about the relevancy of higher ranking sites to tweak yours.
Like with every update, Third Marble will be watching our client’s accounts closely to prepare for any unforeseeable changes. As an SEO industry expert, we will work to reverse-engineer the changes over the next several weeks.
